Claudio Porzi received the Ph.D. in Telecommunications (2005), and the “Laurea” degree in Electronics Engineering (2000) from Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa, Italy and “La Sapienza” University of Rome, Italy, respectively.
He is currently Assistant Professor at TeCIP Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna. Between 2004 and 2008 he has been Researcher at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna. Between September and December 2012, he has been Visting Professor under Erasmus Mundus scholarship at Osaka University (Japan); Between November 2004 and May 2005 he has been Visting Researcher at Agilent Labs, Palo Alto, CA (USA); Between February and August 2004 he has been Visiting Student under Marie Curie scholarship at the Optoelectronics Research Centre of Tampere Technology University, Tampere (Finland).
Since 2009, he is Adjunct Professor for the course “Photonic Technologies” at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna. In 2012, he was lecturer of the course “Lecture on Various Topics” at Osaka University, Japan.
His main research interests are optical signal processing, photonics integrated circuits, silicon photonics, optical packet-switched networks, access networks, and semiconductor optical amplifiers.
In 2010 he was granted of the “Best Paper Award” at the International Communications Conference ICC 2010 - Optical Networks and Systems Symposium.
He participated to the following recent EU and National projects:
- (2008 – 2012) FP7 “EUROFOS Europe's Research Network on Photonic Systems”
- (2008 – 2011) FP7 “GOSPEL - Governing the Speed of Light”
- (2007– 2009) MIUR project “Photonic Enabling Devices for Regeneration and Optical Switching-PEDROS”
He contributed to the PIC regional project for the set-up of a clean-room for optical circuit manufacturing at the TeCIP Institute.
He is reviewer for major international journals, including: Photonics Technology Letters, Journal of Lightwave Technology, Journal of Quantum Electronics, Optics Letters, Optics Express.
He co-authored more than 70 papers published on international journals or presented at major international conferences, and 4 international patents.
